Paxos Boat Trip from Corfu

Paxos sits roughly seven nautical miles south of Corfu, and it feels like a different world entirely. The island is tiny — just ten kilometres long — but what it lacks in size it compensates for in sheer beauty. A private boat trip from Corfu is the definitive way to experience Paxos and its smaller neighbour Antipaxos.

Private Paxos Tour — All-Inclusive Experience

Paxos full day from 1,200 EUR  ·  All-inclusive private tour  ·  Up to 8 guests per boat

Price is per boat, not per person. Professional skipper, fuel, and all equipment included.

The Paxos Experience

The western coast is a wall of white limestone cliffs riddled with sea caves, while the eastern side drops gently into olive groves and three small harbours that look like they were painted for a postcard.

No ferry timetables, no tour bus transfers, no racing between stops. Just your group, your skipper, and as much time as you want at every anchorage.

The Route: Corfu to Paxos

We depart from Marina Gouvia on Corfu’s east coast, heading south through the strait between Corfu and the mainland. Depending on conditions and which boat you choose, the crossing takes between 40 minutes and just over an hour. On a clear morning, you will see Paxos appear on the horizon before you have finished your first coffee.

The approach from the north brings you along the dramatic west coast first — the best introduction Paxos could offer.

The Sea Caves

The western cliffs of Paxos are hollow. Centuries of wave action have carved a series of caves and arches into the limestone, and the light inside them shifts from deep blue to emerald depending on the time of day and the angle of the sun.

The Blue Cave is the most famous — a high-ceilinged grotto where the water glows an almost electric blue. Further south, Ipapanti Cave opens into a natural cathedral large enough to motor into slowly, the engine echoing off the walls. Your skipper knows exactly when and how to enter each cave safely, and which ones to skip on days when the swell is too high.

Antipaxos: Voutoumi and Vrika

A short hop south of Paxos, Antipaxos is barely inhabited — a handful of tavernas, a scattering of vineyards, and two beaches that routinely appear in lists of the best in the Mediterranean.

Voutoumi Beach is the star. Fine white pebbles slope into water so clear that boats anchored offshore appear to float in mid-air. It gets busy by midday in peak season, which is exactly why arriving by private boat in the morning — before the excursion boats from Corfu Town — makes all the difference.

Vrika Beach, just north of Voutoumi, is sandier and slightly quieter. A taverna sits right on the beach serving grilled fish and cold wine from the local vineyards. Time here tends to stretch.

The Villages of Paxos

Paxos has three harbour villages, each with its own character:

Gaios — The main port, tucked behind a small island that creates a sheltered natural harbour. Venetian architecture, waterfront tavernas, and a pace of life that resists all hurry. Most skippers will anchor here for a long lunch.

Lakka — At the northern tip of Paxos, Lakka sits in a horseshoe bay surrounded by hills of olive and cypress. It is smaller and quieter than Gaios, with a handful of excellent restaurants and a beach within walking distance.

Loggos — The smallest of the three, perched on the eastern coast. A working fishing harbour with a couple of restaurants that serve whatever came off the boats that morning.

Which Boat for the Paxos Trip

Any boat in our fleet can make the crossing, but some are better suited than others:

Viper Grigoris — Our most popular choice for Paxos. Fast enough to make the crossing in 40 minutes, nimble enough to enter the sea caves, and stable on the open water. Ideal for groups of 4-8.

Magna 35C Asteroessa — A slightly larger RIB with more deck space. Perfect if comfort on the crossing matters as much as the destination.

Sea Ray Sundancer 370 Passion V — For those who want the full luxury experience. A cabin to retreat to, a proper sound system, and the kind of entrance that makes everyone on the Gaios waterfront look twice. Learn more about yacht charters.

Practical Details

Duration: A full-day trip, typically departing between 9:00 and 10:00 and returning by 18:00-19:00. We recommend allowing at least eight hours to see both islands properly without rushing.

What to bring: Swimwear, a light layer for the crossing, sunscreen, a hat, and a camera. Everything else — towels, snorkelling gear, water, and refreshments — is provided.

Best months: June through September for warm water and reliable weather. May and October are beautiful but the sea can be cooler and the caves slightly less accessible on rough days.

We also offer a dedicated Paxos-Antipaxos Full Day Tour with a set itinerary — or we can build something entirely custom around your interests.
